Crash Diets – Do They Work?

What do you want from yourself? Do you want to be an engineer or a doctor? That’s what my dad asked me when I completed my school. It was a really tricky question. I couldn’t make my decision and I ended up becoming a well-established writer, not-so-bad singer and management student. You see decisions make or break your life and making the right decision at the right time leads you towards what you wished for in the first place.

And that’s what you have to know when you are talking about going on a crash diet (also called the fad diet). Okay, let’s start with the most basic yet controversial thing. Crash diets work! But don’t leave yet. I’ve more to speak on it. Crash diets work but only on a transitory basis. Crash diets are mainly apropo for the people who want some quick fat loss. Perhaps, they have to get prepared for their recent marriage anniversary party or they have to qualify for their modeling examination. Whatever that is, they need it quick and crash diets are the best for some quick fat loss.

Now the question is whether you can really survive on a crash diet. Believe me that I’ve seen my sister on a fad diet. She was going to die. At least I felt she was. She used to eat so less (less in the sense of both calories and nutrients). I interrupted but she overruled that she was on one designed BY ONE SUPER-EXPERIENCED FAT LOSS INSTRUCTOR. I didn’t say anything but after some days, I could see her sneaking into the kitchen in the middle of the night. I caught her eating my Doritos! Ha-ha. Well, that’s the case with most people who try on crash diets. They can’t keep to it.

And that’s good for them. Let’s go by the scientific facts then. When you reduce your calorie or food intake, at first your body tries to adapt to the situation by resorting to the internal stored resources. That obviously reduces the extra fat for a couple of days. But suddenly your body realizes it’s on starvation! Now, it goes into the hibernation mode and slows down the metabolic functions of the body. And here’s where the problem starts. Not only will stop losing weight but you will see certain health disruptions as well. Do you want it?

No, you don’t want this kind of fad diet (these are for crazy people) and you shouldn’t. It’s always best to eat healthy fresh foods that are not being tampered with, coupled with a great exercise regimen and adequate rest. That should do it for you. And above all, you should get a good experienced and well-educated guide figuring your diet plans, not like the bum with my sister.

After all, right decisions make or break the right fad diet.
