Weight Watchers has been around for many years and its continued success is primarily due to the support system found in meeting groups and the leniency of dieters to have desserts and "bad" foods once in a while. Overall, this diet has good results in the long run because it does teach how to eat in the real world without depriving yourself.&lt;/p&gt;&lt;p&gt;Another diet that has found popularity over the last 7 years is the South Beach Diet. Created by Dr. Arthur Agatston, this diet is a three-phase plan with phase 1 lasting for two weeks, phase 2 until you reach your goal weight and phase 3 is lifetime maintenance plan. Dieters should incorporate light to moderate exercise such as walking and stretching several times throughout the week. During phase 1, dieters will cut out all processed carbohydrates, phase 2 will slowly add them back in and phase 3 will help you learn how to re-eat in moderation. This weight loss plan does allow for some flexibility in eating, which is important for a life changing plan.&lt;/p&gt;&lt;p&gt;The Biggest Loser Diet has gained quite a bit of popularity in the last few years due to the increasing number of show viewers. This diet focuses on a combination of calorie counting, varied foods and intense exercise. Dieters are asked to eat several small meals a day (within their calorie allotment) that follow the 4-3-2-1 pyramid-4 servings of fruits and veggies, 3 servings of lean protein, 2 servings of whole grain and 1 serving of healthy fats. This diet has been proven to work over and over on the show "The Biggest Loser" but it can be a stricter regiment to follow.&lt;/p&gt;&lt;p&gt;There are so many diets out there and all of them have worked for someone, somewhere at some point but you have to find the one that is right for you! This is done with  surgery for obesity, i.e an operation to remove part of the stomach. There was no one else in the doctor's office, yet I still couldn't believe she was saying these words to me!&lt;/p&gt;&lt;p&gt;She was using words like, "living a low-carbohydrate life style," boarder line diabetes, exercising daily, no sugar, no pasta, no rice, no potatoes". Then she summarized what she had said by say, "Don't eat anything white! (meaning, nothing that turns to sugar)&lt;/p&gt;&lt;p&gt;Her last words were, "You are not overweight, you are boarder line and you can beat this."&lt;/p&gt;&lt;p&gt;As I walked slowly to my car, I was amazed at how "words" could change a person's life, within seconds. By the time I got to the car, I realized that I would not accept this illness. This illness would not be mine, and I would do whatever was necessary, to be health.&lt;/p&gt;&lt;p&gt;After researching the diet, (Google) I realized that the diet wasn't very popular in medical circles, I also realized that after 5 days on the diet, I was having, withdrawals from not having sugar, coffee and bread with butter (you know, the kind they bring you at the restaurant) in my diet.&lt;/p&gt;&lt;p&gt;I was a little weak at first, but I stayed on the diet and kept walking 30 to 60 minutes every day.&lt;/p&gt;&lt;p&gt;The thought of being addicted to sugar and coffee, upset me. I felt like I had the same problem as the drug addict, except my addiction was much easier to kick. It was horrible, headaches, craving for sugar, bread, and regular coffee, I couldn't believe how my body was acting.&lt;/p&gt;&lt;p&gt;After about the 6th or 7th day, I felt the rush of energy that was promised in the diet.&lt;/p&gt;&lt;p&gt;Only eating, meat, (mostly seafood) and salads, alone with a small amount of cheese, caused me to loose 10 pounds in 10 days.&lt;/p&gt;&lt;p&gt;The diet may be controversial, however, it woke me up to a whole new life. A life without refined sugar, bread, pasta, rice, potatoes, and other foods that turn to sugar, once in the body.
